Analyzing His Leaving

‘No one is indispensable’ and ‘You’re only as good as your last project’ are clichés that many celebrities take for granted. While there would be times when a celebrity would have endorsements and projects left and right, a time would come when everything will all be gone. When the fans no longer line up at the box-office, ratings perform dismally, and social media is filled with anecdotes of the negative behavior of celebrities, management and endorsements are all ears. Many celebrities have found themselves in such position and while others have prepared themselves, others have not.

One of the hardest truths to accept for a celebrity is his/her faded star. In other words, there is no more career to speak of as well as hit movies to brag about. For Exasperating Talent (ET), reality hit him hard. While he used to be among the bankable and most trusted talents of his network, he suddenly found himself with no network projects and His Partner (HP) moving away from him successfully. Thus, the question of what went wrong with ET was faced by his management and their answers justified the next move.

Over the past years, ET was very different from the other talents of the management. Those talents would mingle with fans, pose for pictures, and talk to the press nicely. By contrast, ET was aloof and has been reported many times to display arrogance even to his benefactors. Thus, his management had to invest in damage control to save his career. Despite such behavior, ET was still given top projects, but these assignments performed below par. To see clearly the direction of his career, he and HP were given different projects to the disappointment of fans. However, HP proved her bankability, while ET failed. The conclusion was the problem was really with ET, as he could not shake off his negative image to the masses.

Rather than stay at a seemingly dead-end, ET asked to be released from his unexpired contract. With so many new talents waiting for their chance at stardom, the management let ET go without much fuss. After all, ET might end up in the freezer if he stays on. Like many other talents who have left his management, kibitzers are predicting doomsday for ET’s career. For example, with his departure, ET might no longer be prioritized for any teleserye project with the network. Moreover, reuniting with HP would also be farfetched at this point.

As always, time will tell if ET made a good move by leaving his former management. Just as long as he left nicely and no bridges were burned, ET could always return if nothing happens with this development in his career.
