Manny Pacquiao will return to fighting, according to his promoter Bob Arum.

In an interview with BoxingScene.com, the Top Rank Promotions head honcho said Pacquiao is currently working on a way to take a leave of absence from his duties as senator to come back to boxing.

"He is going to fight. I don't know what the date is. He is working with the President of the Philippines senate for an appropriate date where he can leave the Philippines for two or three weeks to prepare for the fight," said Arum.

"In any event he is going to have to do most of his preparation in the Philippines - you know after he sits in the senate - so it is going to be an interesting thing but definitely he is looking to come back and the question is how can we arrange it," he added.

Pacquiao had declared his retirement from the sport after beating Timothy Bradly last April in the middle of his campaign. He said he will focus on his duties if elected to the post.

After being proclaimed last May, Pacquiao promised to be more present as a lawmaker in the Senate. He had previously drawn criticism for his absenteeism as a congressman during two terms representing Sarangani province. —JST, GMA News
