Decided to Play with the Emotions of the Audience
However, despite the complexity of producing a teleserye, networks today are sensitive to the comments of netizens. Given that access to social media is easily available, fans have taken they grunts and rants to cyberspace. For example, if fans prefer a certain loveteam and the network believes the idea has potential, then the station will give in to fan requests. Sometimes, when a network makes a sudden move of including a talent and the netizens did not like that talent, a high probability exists that the talent will be pulled out a project.
The vibrancy of the followers of this loveteam is being tested, as most fans are unhappy with the way the creative team is handling the story. Given that the teleserye has been consistently getting high ratings, the one time that the teleserye rating went down, the followers engaged members of the creative team in a debate concerning the development of the plot of the story. While the creative team would always want the audience to have faith in their production, this time, the fans were too concerned of the future story and started to question the writers.
At one point, the fans and the creative team agreed to a ceasefire. Soon, the storyline of their teleserye started picking up again, but then, one episode disappointed fans. Ironically, that particular episode was recommended by the creative team and they were confident of their work and requested for a certain number of tweets for the said episode. However, fans noticed one scene had seemed to allude to their previous discussions with creative. While the said scene could have been dismissed by fans, an exchange of tweets coming from someone in the production allegedly indicated that the controversial scene was really done with malice and a way to get back at fans who have had nothing good to say.
While fans give ratings and support, the production team of any teleserye should be considerate of their viewers. Now that the age of social media is thriving, any message posted by anyone could be easily misconstrued or actually reveal the intentions of the writer. The process of making a teleserye is really not as sweet as people would romanticize it to be.
