    1. The film is doomed to flop. Kasi ingrata ka

    2. @2:24 Yup. The film probably would have had better support if she wasn’t part of it, sadly.

  2. Kumita naman sa Pinas ang FI. International hindi.

    1. korek! also if Liza or her fans are questioning the lack of support for her movie, dapat may proof din na she gives the same support to other Filipino artists, diba? to be fair, mutual support goes both ways.

Feeling niya kasi magagamit niya. Well, tapos na siya. Lalo na sangkaterbang ka ingratahang pinagsasabi niya.

  4. I was never really interested with Forgotten Island nor Kim K but I would like to say that FI fails in the Philippines because it’s unrelatable. The view comes from privilege. As someone who migrated to the US for 15 years, this movie is so clear on how it’s coming from a Fil-Am view. Everything’s romanticized. It’s not what the typical masa goes through on a daily. It asking the typical filipino to view what being a filipino is from a view that’s unrelatable to most.

    2. Sorry ha pero since when did a movie have to reflect the daily struggles of the Pinoy masses to be considered relatable or authentically Filipino? Filipino identity is not defined by poverty and the Fil-Am experience is no less authentic simply because it comes from a different perspective. That's an incredibly narrow and unfair standard. It's a fantasy film inspired by Filipino mythology.

    3. Sort of agree 1104. The film landed in a commercial dead zone. A lot of international (see letterboxd) moviegoers largely viewed the premise as too hyper-specific or unfamiliar. Conversely, many local audiences felt the diaspora heavy, 1990s Fil-Am perspective was alienating, or that the film packaged our culture through a Western lens. It was too westernized for locals and too niche for the rest of the world which is why FI flopped, earning a total of $65 M with a total budget of $80 M.

    4. It is relatable. The friendship? The unequal status level, the Filipino handaan? What else are you expecting? If that’s what you think the content of a movie should be, then documentary ang panoorin mo hindi fictional film. 😂

    5. Did I say it has to be about a struggle? I said it’s unrelatable to the masa or simply, it does not interest them. You can lobby with the fil-ams, they will support this better - they can relate it to it afterall. And I should know, I’m a one of them. I am just trying to explain why it did not fair well as expected in PI. There’s no need to call me narrow-minded just because we have different views. If you look at the results factually, you would know I’m not pulling this out of thin air.

    6. 12:13 A Filipino movie doesn’t have to be all about poverty porn for it to be relateable and for you to support it. It’s entertainment for a reason. It’s about myths really, and friendship if you watched it

  5. Commenting is free but watching the film is asking for people's hard earned money. Supporting our own is so much easier when it's free. The film seems to be for making western audiences impressed more than anything else, which i guess succeeded in terms of critics but not in box office sales.

    1. Yes, pero pwede rin na majority didn’t care to support her. Look at Alex Eala, di hamak mas mahal bumili ng ticket to watch her games but Filipinos all over the world paid the tickets and made the trip! Wala na lang talagang appeal si Liza, gone are the days she held box office clout.

Lastly, if you really want to be patriotic start with our mother tongue..

    1. I agree. Kahit very Americanized, sana may tagalog dubbed option

  7. Pathetic at absurd ang kontrobersiya na ito. Since when did buying a movie ticket become a test of patriotism? Hindi obligasyon ng mga Pilipino na suportahan ang Forgotten Island just because it is Pinoy themed. In fact, the Philippines was the ONLY country where the movie reached No#1 at the box office while it struggled internationally. So bakit Pilipino pa ang sinisisi? Maybe the real problems were weak marketing, limited mainstream appeal and poor audience targeting. These are commercial failures, not national betrayal. What twisted logic! Stop weaponizing patriotism to excuse a box office flop. The audience owes you nothing. Support is earned not demanded and patriotism is not a marketing strategy!!!

  8. This is good for Liza, si Kim K yan at sobrang sikat! If she keeps commenting about it, mapapansin sya more. Good publicity...bad publicity chu chu!

  9. Sikat kasi talaga mga Kardashian, kahit pa for nega issues yung kasikatan nila. Kung di maka-keep up, "skill issue" as they say.

  10. I DONT LIKE THIS DISCUSSION AND COMPARISON AT ALL. In the first place you cant force someone to support a movie just because it's about their own country. and for what??? so you can say na succesful ang movie mo? na kumita kyo?? were you really expecting na liking an ig post conpares to buying a movie ticket? stop using patriotism to force people to watch. and then gaslighting us. Kim K has 400 mil followers all over the world. She's an influencer/celebrity. her posts put Philippines in the minds of people who dont even know where it is.

  12. It’s not marketed enough basically. Lalo sa US where the market is big.

  13. I dunno why they’re glorifying Kardashians so much, you can tell gano kababaw ang isang tao sa mga iniidolo nila.fact!

  14. If Lisa is not part of forgotten island mas malaki chance na kumita and toxic nya kasi

    1. I agree. Kahit anong defend ng fans niya, Liza comes off as entitled na dapat suportahan ang projects niya, pero where’s her support for other PH artists diba? She may have valid points about PH culture and the system, pero minsan, the way she says it comes off as ungrateful and overly negative, considering na same system din naman ang tumulong sa kanya para sumikat before.

Kunti kibot nila nasa media agad. Iba naman ang FI, movie, yon choice nang mga tao if manunuorin nila yon or hindi pera naman nila yon.

  18. Aminin mo Liza, gamit mo ang mga Pinoy pag may kailangan ka like asking to watch your movie. Pero honestly wala ka naman talaga paki sa mga Pilipino and you cannot enforce us to watch your movie duh!

    2. I mean she’s painted Filipinos in very bad light in every interview she has and so, her, being in this movie, is as unpatriotic as it gets. I don’t understand why she thinks she is “owed” support. Tsk tsk tsk.

  22. You’re telling me I have to use my hard earned money to support a movie that is starring an artist whom I don’t really like? You also mean to tell me that my patriotism is only reflected by supporting said movie? Don’t make a movie on the basis of “patriotic” support. To base “patriotism” on this is so shallow.

  23. All the negative comments she said about Filipino showbiz culture have tainted the goodness in ‘utang na loob’. And now she expects us to support her international projects after all the trash-talking? This girl reeks of so much entitlement. 🙄

  24. They forgot the island lang talaga, Liza. Sorry na. But we're not obligated and beholden to you so again, sorry we did not meet your expectations.
