Kahanga-hanga yung mga artistang not playing safe… hindi takot ma-boycott just to speak up on national issues!
Maria.
Politics reduced to a matter of correct and incorrect choice.
Because of what is happening now, the impeachment of Sara Duterte in Congress, shifting alliances in the Senate, and the ongoing standoff involving Bato dela Rosa, there is again a familiar refrain online… “Ayan, resulta ‘yan ng boto niyo noong 2022.” But I keep returning to that reaction with discomfort because it treats politics as if it were simply a test of judgment, as if what unfolded was only voter error rather than the repetition of a deeper structure.
The rise of the Dutertes and the return of the Marcoses are often narrated as moral or civic failure, but they can also be read as responses to longer systemic failures: the inability of previous administrations and institutions to fully address material conditions, precarity, inequality, insecurity, and the slow erosion of everyday dignity. In this sense, voting cannot be reduced to ideology alone. Filipino political behavior is largely shaped by affinity, identification, and emotional recognition. Žižek’s point becomes useful here: ideology is not primarily what people believe, but what structures what they can desire. People do not simply choose platforms; they choose where their sense of being seen or ignored becomes politically anchored.
This is why the cycle repeats itself as a kind of see-saw movement, rejection, substitution, disappointment, without fundamental transformation. Moral explanations fail because they mistake structural pain for ignorance. But once humiliation becomes political currency, it will always find representation. The result is not simply misinformation or bad judgment, but a recurring instability in how collective desire is organized. And perhaps the most unsettling realization is this, we do not only vote for leaders, we vote for where our frustration becomes bearable.
Pumili ng tama. Lagi na lang ganyan. May tama bang pwede nating iboto?
I am not siding with Bato but sino ba ang mag papahuli kung same sa fate ni Duterte ang maging fate mo? Kapag sa The Hague, sorry..Dun ka na mamamatay..Ang mahal din abogado..kaya literally, run for life nalang..Masikip man mundo bilang fugitive, at least nasa sariling bansa..
Kaya be careful what you wish for.
I can’t believe I’m saying this pero nasan na si Alvin Aragon?

ReplyDeleteTake away Bianca since she cannot mention Robin on social media. Friendship first with Mariel before performative woke posts.
