Todo Na ..... (All Out .....)

Burt Bacharah said "a chair is still a chair even when there's no one sitting there" .  In this story the chair is not just a chair, it was not just used for sitting.   The chairs alongside with other pieces of furniture were used as payment for liabilities.

This furniture designer started with a small space, moved to an extremely large space, transfered to another small space, until finally closed its doors.  His latest small space, on the third level of a mall in Makati, did not do well so he was forced to shut it down. When his store ceased to operate, he did not have cash to settle his liabilities so the mall management had no choice but to accept his furniture pieces as compensation.  We can now see these furniture pieces being used by the mall for special events.

There was also one instance when this furniture designer organized a male models go see (audition) in his office.  A professional photographer was directing the shoot for the go see.  Some models were shocked when they were instructed to take off everything, including their underwear. The designer knew about it but did nothing to stop the photographer from taking the nude pictures in his office.

This furniture designer who is a former TV host, has been spotted many times in Boracay partying with his boys. Who said he did not have cash to pay for mall rent?

Can you guess who he is?  Play with the title and maybe you will get the answer.  Oh well, I am hungry now, it is time to go to Starbucks and grab a piece of spinach quiche.

  3. Oh my! Just to see boys naked, kung ano na ang ginagawang pakulo. During screenings, even in small bikini contests, you don't ask the models to disrobe just to see how their bodies would look like. It is enough that they are asked to take off their clothes and pants but with underwear or trunks on. You will already see how their bodies would look like. And a photographer taking pictures of the nude models - ah something is really fishy. Well, go sees are free so maybe it was his way of looking at nude men without paying them.

  4. It is true that the store was closed down in GB5 after less than a year of operation because it was not profitable. How it was settled then that I do not know. But it was a very small space with very few pieces of furniture and mostly accessories. But the main branch which is huge is still in N. Garcia and still operational and as usual an inspiration to every visitor.

  5. Hi. My friend sent me this blog and I was just surprised because if I understood your post right (which is actually very obvious), I am one of the models who attended this go-see, and I didn’t take of my underwear at all. Some of the models did take of their underwear but it wasn’t the “designer” who you are referring to who actually asked them to do so. It was the photographer who was calling the shots of the whole shoot. In fact, I overheard the “designer” asking the photographer if it was really necessary for some of the models to take of their underwear because he was feeling uncomfortable about it. He was actually not in the shoot most of the time as he kept going in and out because it seemed he was very busy. We were able to talk to him and he was actually very professional with the whole thing and seemed clueless on how things like this actually went.
    - P.S I posted this awhile ago but I don’t know if you got it. I am just concerned where you got this story because I was there and it wasn’t the way how you depicted it. Thanks.

  6. In my opinion, the designer should not have tolerated the behavior of the photographer because it was conducted in his office.

  7. A prominent interior/furniture designer and his/her architect partner used to have their office/showroom on the outer perimeter of one of the Makati villages. They packed up and left several months ago b/c they were very very delinquent on their rentals and even had the gall to suggest a dacion en pago using the furniture on the showroom for (get this) FULL PRICE! Good thing somebody advised the property owner that when you get a showroom piece, it should be discounted by at least 50% b/c of the wear and tear. Guess who is this royal dynamic duo?

  10. I read his interview from a few years back and he was quite candid about his humble beginning--walang ere-- seemed like he worked hard to establish the business.Sayang . Sana this is just a small bump for him and that he will recover soon.

  11. Ah hahaha first few paragraphs pa alng and I know who he is! Quite right about his humble beginnings pero lumaki na ang ulo. Masyadong bilib sa sarili. Magaling sa design pero he's not a good person deep inside.

  12. I do not get this post. What did the designer do that is wrong? The model said he was not even around most time. He just opened a huge store and his blog says he is doing the lounge of the mall so I guess he is in good terms with the mall management. He goes to Boracay to party? He is a good friend of a friend and I know he does not even drink nor smoke.

And yes he is a good designer but I heard expensive daw. I guess kaya nga magaling.

    Tsk Tsk.

  13. if this is who think it is, the guy has a keen eye for design and could whip up a well edited room in a few strokes. the fact that his ventures did not do very well does not speak ill of him as a person, does it? i actually have a few pieces from his collection and they are timeless. his blog, though, is another story. like yours, FP, the syntax is at times, quite, er, maddening. they are all over the place.

  14. humble beginnings, very true.... very humble beginnings actually... but for someone who comes from very humble beginnings and to interview dates as to which school they come from (ADMU or DLSU) and what do their fathers do for a living (as if asking his net worth), his humble beginnings defeat his "success"... his dates would experience him driving with his seatback reclined. when you ask him why he isn't leaning back, he will say "kasi mahal ang linen shirt ko, ayaw kong magusot" !!!!. design capabilities? no doubt at all!! but originality? He is a MASTER at putting beautiful things together to create something beautiful to look at in magazines. but research of any original design that he made and that became a hit? hmmmmmmmm..... BLANK !!! have you watched his show before? the laughing stock of the gay community because of his ENGLISH!! have you even heard him speak english !! OMG, even Jerico Rosales, a former fish vendor, speaks better english. why cant a former palengke vendor like this designer go to Languages Internationale and study some english to further improve his image? maybe spend some of the money he spends on his armani's and paul smith's for english classes para di puro outer image ang kinocorrect niya! ask anyone of his Ex-bf's. they laugh whenever they tell stories about how they hesitate to correct his english whenever he tries his very best to sound.... cultured .... culture is something you gain while growing up, who you grow up with, go to school with, party with. culture is not something acquired with the money you earn later in life when you can afford it. kung palengkero ka dati, kahit naka paul smith at bulgari ka ngayon, palengke pa din ang culture mo.... he was offered by TV5 another TV show recently, but his demands for billing, shooting skeds, and talent fee were too exorbitant that the EP simply smiled and said no thanks. As if!!!! eh his contract with the former TV show was not renewed na kasi all the staff complained about his diva-ness!!! and the host, although she loves his design prowess, had no choice but to let him go. that's adding to his BAD english pa!!! to all his defenders, you are very good friends of him. Pero accept the reality of this person. It doesn’t make you a lesser person to tell your friend the things he’s bad about while praising what’s good about him….

  15. Hi, Totoo ba Ito? FYI he is not a INTERIOR DESIGNER nor a FURNITURE DESIGNER. He did not even study Interior Design. FYI F.P. The title given to him is very insulting to INTERIOR DESIGNERS who has license to practice the the said profession.
